Test Setup
I'm using Ubuntu 9.04, 64 bit version, so your experience may vary from mine. I'll try to see what happens with Windows XP on my laptop after I get my development machine running using Eclipse 3.5.
FAQ
I'll post here Q/A of things that went wrong when I first launched Eclipse 3.5, what I did to fix the problem and whether the fix was backwards compatible with Eclipse 3.4.
- Where are my installed JREs?
- Go to the Windows -> Preferences -> Java -> Installed JREs menu and see if you installed JREs are still there. Mine were not, except for open-jdk. You might need to re-add your other JREs, I did.
- Progress indicator for loading update sites is not obvious
- On my system, when I go to Help -> Install New Software and select "All Available Sites", I noticed the busy cursor only shows up when I moved the mouse outside of the dialog box. Inside the dialog box, it is the normal cursor. Better progress indicator would be very helpful because searches are going to fail until the update sites load.
- Where are the subversive connectors?
- Even though subversive is an incubator project, they do not include the svn connectors in the update site list. You must add the following link to your list of update sites: http://community.polarion.com/projects/subversive/download/eclipse/2.0/galileo-site/
