The bold main org code for a program office is to be used for all other sources of non-grant funds (i.e. Gifts, State, ICR etc.) The multiple grant org codes were created to identify the ICR return to NCSA by the program office.  It was determined that leadership wanted to understand the return on investment for program offices therefore multiple org codes were needed to keep track of program office ROI.

132000 Standard

NCSA 45% and Campus 55%

  • This is all NCSA staff where we get 45%.
  • This is also for non-NCSA staff that are treated like NCSA staff
    • Example - Matt Turk because he is the Director of AVL so grants submitted under AVL we have an agreement to treat him like an NCSA employee and get 45%.
    • Example - Bill Gropp because he is NCSA's Director any grant related to NCSA and submitted under NCSA, we should receive 45%, even though his home unit is CS.
132001Special Code NP

NCSA 28% & Campus 72%

  • This is for exceptions for NCSA staff where we have agreed to accept a lower percentage (i.e. Delta had an MOU where campus paid utilities so we only get 28% ICR).
  • If this one is being used at the proposal stage, please let Business Office Leadership know to confirm. It should really only be used, if MOUs are in place.
1XXXXXNon-NCSA Distribution Code (**This is usually the lead PIs home unit distribution code.)

Campus 55% & Non-NCSA PI Home Unit 45%

  • NCSA gets our 28% from the Campus 55% based on the org code used.
  • Example - AIFARMS distribution code is 143400. In Banner, this goes 55% to campus (236002 org code), 18% to the 434030 org code, & 27% to the 602000 org code. No where in there is an NCSA org (320000) shown for ICR distribution. However, because the 320010 org code (CDA Multidisciplinary) was used on the grant CFOPA, NCSA will get 28% of the campus 55% through a manual Provost true-up at FY end.
