Service Description 

The Hydro HPC cluster system is located at the National Petascale Computing Facility and is an HPC platform composed of approximately 55 nodes that offer CPU and GPU options for AI/ML/MPI workloads.  The 18 GPUs available are cutting-edge Nvidia A100 80GB variants.  The system is interconnected with FDR Infiniband, 40-100 Gbe, and has 4 usable PB of Lustre-based parallel storage as well as node-local NVME scratch storage in each GPU host.

Charging Policy

  • Internal Users 

    • Hydro - $0.65 per node hour 
  • External Users 

    • Hydro - $0.86 per node hour
    • External user is an organization or individual whose ultimate source of funds is outside of the U of I System. External users include students and any members of faculty or staff acting in a personal capacity, and the general public. Affiliated hospitals or other universities are considered external users unless the System has subcontracted with them as part of a grant or contract.
