- Created as needed when a specific topic requires more discussion.
- Examples: research new software stacks, tech training, improve knowledge in a certain area, areas for future proposal development
- A great opportunity to work across projects and divisions as well as gaining experience leading small but important efforts for the Software Directorate and NCSA.
- Anyone from the Center can be part of a FG based on expertise and interest.
- Members of the FG are expected to actively contribute to the deliverables.
- Try to pick topics that overlap with work you are already doing or will be doing on a project.
- If you are interested in the topic but don't have the bandwidth to contribute wait for the group to produce deliverables and consume those.
- Members of the FG set:
- A lead (responsible for keeping them on track).
- A clear deliverable (provide best practice, wiki page, document, script, etc.).
- Each focus group will have up to three months to present their findings/research in an SWG meeting. Before the time is up a representative of the FG will present outcomes to the SWG.
