• Created as needed when a specific topic requires more discussion.
    • Examples: research new software stacks, tech training, improve knowledge in a certain area, areas for future proposal development
  • A great opportunity to work across projects and divisions as well as gaining experience leading small but important efforts for the Software Directorate and NCSA.
  • Anyone from the Center can be part of a FG based on expertise and interest.
  • Members of the FG are expected to actively contribute to the deliverables.
    • Try to pick topics that overlap with work you are already doing or will be doing on a project.
    • If you are interested in the topic but don't have the bandwidth to contribute wait for the group to produce deliverables and consume those.
  • Members of the FG set:
    • lead (responsible for keeping them on track).
    • clear deliverable (provide best practice, wiki page, document, script, etc.).
    • Each focus group will have up to three months to present their findings/research in an SWG meeting. Before the time is up a representative of the FG will present outcomes to the SWG.
