Windows Printing

Follow the steps below to setup a printer on your Windows Machine:

  1. Click the Start Button and begin typing in the following:  \\ncsa-print.ncsa.illinois.edu  Press Enter.




  2. If you are prompted with a box asking for login credentials, please use your University NetID and password as shown below
    • Username:  UOFI\netid
    • Password:  (same as login for webmail)



  3. You will be presented with a window that looks similar to the one below.  Double Click on the printer that you would like to install.  Please see the Public Printers List for a complete list of public printers available for staff and students.  Printers with "priv" at the end of their name are not available for public use.



  4. The printer will begin installing.  You will be presented with a print queue window for the printer that you chose when the installation is complete.


Mac Printing

To setup a printer in MacOS, follow the instructions below:

  1. Open System Preferences by clicking the Apple Button in the top left corner of your screen, then choosing System Preferences.

  2. Choose "Printers & Scanners" - the last option at the bottom


  3. Click the 'Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax...' button in the bottom right corner to add a new printer, choose add printer or scanner


  4. Click the IP Button at the top of the window and begin filling in the information.  A list of public printers is available here:  Public Printers List

  5. Click Add.  You will be asked if you'd like to setup the Duplex Printing feature.  If so, please check the box next to "Duplex Printing Unit" and click OK.


  6. The printer should now be added to your system.  Print a test page and make sure it works!


Cups Printing with Linux

Open browser to page http://localhost:631 login with root access.

click on Administration tab then click on add printer button.

Choose LPD/LPR host or printer.

Click continue.

 

Then type: ://ncsa-print.ncsa.illinois.edu/ (printername from the print label)


Printer list here.


The completed device URL should be similar to:

           lpd://ncsa-print.ncsa.illinois.edu/copy3036pub

Click continue.

Then pick the manufacturer.  

Click add printer.

Pick the model.

   For Canon Copiers use: Canon imageRunner 330s Foomatic/hpijs

Click add printer.

Click the options that the printer has like duplex or additional trays.

Click Set Printer Options and you are done.
