  1. Phase II award was made on June 1, 2019 by NSF
    1. Congratulations! 
    2. Coordinated official announcements for the 4 Regional BDHubs went out today June 19 at 2:00PM CT. See blog post on the MBDH website: http://midwestbigdatahub.org/mbdh-phase-2-award/ 
    3. a more detailed press release will come out in the next couple of weeks including quotes from all PI institutions 
  2. Transition to phase 2
    1. The new Project Team (PIs of phase 2) has met twice so far and is working on Strategic Plan and various Committees composition
    2. Thank you from PI Bill Gropp on Steering Committee work and support to the Hub on phase 1
    3. The Steering Committee in phase 2 is replaced by a "Community Stakeholder Committee" with a similar role of guidance and support of membership and engagement activities
    4. This is the last Steering Committee meeting of phase 1
  3. Feedback from Lessons Learned survey
    1. received a total of 3 responses so results have to be kept in perspective
    2. Goals & Objectives: Success around past efforts, notably developing partnerships and thinking of sustainability models, but still some work to do about securing activities and funding sources in the future, including public-private partnerships. 
    3. Governance & Management: Satisfaction expressed on present Steering Committee, although clarifying roles and responsibilities would be welcome 
    4. Community building and programmatic activities: All-Hands Meetings were cited as a success, but the selection of activities within the Hub seemed a bit opportunistic and scattered without an overarching strategy
    5. Opportunities to pursue: need for a strategic portfolio and value proposition for the Hub and for its members
    6. Sustainability: need to work on the report that was produced and take action
    7. Outcomes and metrics: # of organizations actively participating and types of contributions, educational support such as internships, hackathons, # of non-academic partners
  4. Other:
    1. a sponsorship prospectus for the All-Hands Meeting 2019 will be sent soon. SC member's help is seeked in circulating it to potential sponsors
    2. ED position not out yet but working on it and will need SC member's help in circulating it too
